The Friends of St Marys is a small group of villagers who come together to in June 2009 to primarily organise social events which would build community fellowship within the village, some of which would raise funds to maintain and improve the fabric of our village church, St Mary the Virgin, as an historic building.
Other events are organised just to bring people together, not specifically to raise funds.

There are two schools in Maidwell.
- Maidwell Hall boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 7 to 13.
